Friday 23 June

Meet at Auckland International Airport at 15h00 for a 17h55 flight.

[Transit] Depart Auckland to Sydney [EK413]; Sydney to Dubai; Dubai to Athens.

Arrive in Dubai at 05h15. Depart for Athens at 10h05 [EK105].

Arrive in Athens at 14h05 on 24 June.

 

Saturday 24 June

Collect luggage & transfer to Syntagma Square via the Athens bus system. See changing of the guard at Parliament Buildings. Transfer luggage to hotel.

Evening Walk at 18h00. Visit Orthodox Basilica and minor Byzantine churches, walk up Mt Lykevittos & around the environs of Athens.

 

Sunday 25 June

Full day sightseeing tour to Delphi, departing 08h00, returning 18h30. See Sanctuary of Apollo with temple, theatre and stadium, the Museum, Gymnasion and Lower Sanctuary.

Evening Walk at 19h00. Monastiraiki Square, Hadrian's Library, Roman Agora, Tower of the Winds, Monument to Lysikratos, Hadrian's Gate, Temple of Zeus, hypocaust system (bakery) Olympic Stadium.

 

Monday 26 June

National Archaeological Museum.

Tour of the Acropolis (Theatre of Herodes Atticus, Theatre of Dionysos, Acropolis, Parthenon, Erechtheion, Propylaia, Temple of Nike).

Tour of the Greek Agora (Temple of Hephaestus, Stoa of Attalos).

New Acropolis Museum.

Evening shopping at 19h00.

 

Tuesday 27 June

Pack bags, check out of hotel & day tour on coach departing 07h55.

Visit Corinth Canal, Ancient Corinth, Mycenae (Lions' Gate & Treasury of Atreus).

Continue to Patras & board overnight ferry for Ancona.

Check in at ferry by 16h00. Depart 17h30. Cabin berths booked for overnight stay.

 

Wednesday 28 June

Arrive at Ancona at 16h30 and walk to train station. Visit supermarket.

Depart for Rome on 18h21 regional train, arriving at Roma Termini at 22h25.
