My adventure in Venice…. Yesterday I was filling up my water-bottle, and I realised that everyone had disappeared; in an attempt to catch up, I chose a way I thought everyone had gone, but I couldn't find anyone, so I decided to buy an ice-cream. After I had my ice-cream, I started walking around Venice taking in the sights, cos I thought I may as well. About ten or fifteen minutes later, I started worrying if I could find the place, as I couldn't remember the name of the place we were going to. I wanted to ask people whether they knew of a place starting with 'p', so I went into a hotel and asked if anyone knew where I needed to go, and the man there gave me a map. Then I went into a supermarket to confirm that I was going the right way, which I wasn't. A woman there pointed me in the right direction, and I started seeing the signs to the Rialto Bridge. That led me to the Rialto Bridge. After that I walked down past all the shops, and I saw on the map that I was close to St Mark's Square, so I went down a couple of side-streets but didn't find anything, so I wandered back to wards Rialto to try to get back to the translation, when I saw the sign for San Marco, and I went that way. Following the general crowd, I was led to a massive square, and found Mr Moore after about 5 minutes, waiting outside St Mark's Basilica.
Venice had some really nice streets and houses, very touristy, and packed in places, and I would happily live there.
Then we jumped on an overnight train to France, buying lots of food for the trip. We slept in a compartment of six beds, bunks of three on either side, not terribly comfortable, and not much room to stretch out or sit up, and it was very hot up on the top bunk, but I slept ok.
In the middle of the night, about 3am, the Swiss Border Patrol woke us up shouting for everyone's passports and shining torches in the room; once we explained that we didn't have any passports, one waiting with us until Mr Buckingham arrived with the passports, and they checked us one by one. I then slept ok until we were woken up with ten minutes to go before Dijon, before we found out that the train was late, and we had two more hours to go. We're now on a fast train to Avignon.
